Parent &Citizens Association

Working together to support the work of staff and students at Poynter PS

At Poynter Primary School we have a very active and successful Parents and Citizens Association.   This was acknowledged in February 2015 when we were awarded the Active Citizenship Award for the City of Joondalup.

Role of the P&C:

1. Supporting students and school staff to achieve goals

2. Assist School with funds for projects and activities

3. Run the Farmers Market

4. Occasional Special lunches like Subway

Our P&C gives parents the opportunity to learn about the school policies and programs, it helps to stimulate community interest and participation in our children’s education and it encourages parents to share information and views. New members are most welcome to attend meetings, which are held twice a term, at 7pm on a Tuesday evening.  The school community is informed of meeting dates via newsletters and emails and Connect  Minutes of the meetings are available to view on the school App.

Tuart block upgrade

Monies raised throughout the year, from numerous fundraising events and the Poynter Farmers’ Market, are used to purchase valuable resources for our students and to continually improve the school’s facilities.

The P&C has contributed funds to upgrading the courtyards in Tuart Block and Wandoo Block. Both spaces are now also used as teaching areas.

The resurfacing of the basketball / netball courts has been another large project, jointly funded by the P&C and the school as well as and a successfull grant application.

The P&C also contributes a substantial amount of funds to support online programs and physical activity programs.

Fundraising for charities is also something the Poynter P&C Association and the school community is heavily involved in.  We have been able to contribute to charities such as End Women’s Cancer, Wanslea, The St Vincent de Paul Society, Worlds Greatest Shave, Containers for Timor, Save the children Foundation and RSPCA, to name a few.

School Lunches

As the school does not have a canteen the P&C has engaged an outside provider to supply lunch on a Monday for students via an online order.

The P&C also runs a Subway lunch or similar once or twice a term as a fundraiser,  with the profits going to the P & C. Online orders for those lunches are available through

 School Banking

School banking, in conjunction with the Commonwealth Bank, is available each Thursday for all students. Information packs can be obtained from the volunteers on banking day.

As with any school community a lot of necessary work is accomplished with the help of valuable volunteers. Our hard working parents/carers assisted with:  organising special projects like the School Disco and Movie nights, coordinating lunch orders, organising fundraising projects and many more.
